REDBULL BATTLE OF BORNEO III

The battle is back with a new get-up.

This November, breakers from all around Sabah prepares for another explosive celebration of dance as Red Bull’s break dance battle is back to sizzle the dance floor. The competition has the goal of discovering eight outstanding B-Boys to represent Red Bull and Sabah at the Malaysia’s Battle of The Year (BOTY) 2010, a highly anticipated B-Boys competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

Since its inception last year, Red Bull’s Battle of Borneo III (BB III) which was formerly known as Red Bull’s Lords of The Ring has evolved into one of the largest break dance competition in the state. The minds, bodies and souls of the break dancers will be tested to the limit at this year’s competition which slated to be held on 21st and 22nd November 2009 at One Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu.

BB III’s “B-Boy Battle” comprises of straight up battles in which each set of crew (three person) will be challenging other crew (Crew vs Crew) back to back. Participants are then judged based on their performance of the essential foundations of break dancing; techniques, flips, agility, speed, dynamic, as well as inventive and stylistic movements. In this intense and highly-charged atmosphere, only the strongest will survive.
Similar to last year’s competition, the ‘Cypher’ concept will be showcased yet again, as breakers take turn dancing in the centre of the battle circle known as The Ring. Breaker boys and girls can also show off their forte in the solo competition to stand a chance in winning the ‘Solo Supremacy’ title.

And the only way to draw the best moves out of everyone is to raise the stakes. When the spotlight comes on, the breakers will battle each other while facing a selection of highly respected judges - local star Bboy Suicide4 and Bboy Gonza from Thailand.

As break dancing is synonym to the hip-hop culture, there will be a special performance by Jin Hackman, a hip hop artiste who recently won the KLUE Magazine Blue Chili Award. Apart from this, there will also be activities for visitors to participate at the One Borneo Hypermall.

Borneo III is an urban-themed event organized by Red Bull Malaysia to provide a portal for the existing Breaker-Boys (B-Boys) community to showcase their unique balance of style, talent, skills and inventiveness in addition to keep this inspirational urban art form alive.
