Siol Extreme Mountain Bike Challenge 2009

Greetings from Bumi Kenyalang aka Land of Hornbills!

Red Bull was present at the Siol Extreme Mountain Bike Challenge held at Bukit Siol, Semariang , Kuching last weekend to energise the participants, the organisers and those who help the event a success.

The event was organised by Sarawak Cycling Association and it was a part of the Kuching City Festival Program. Amongst the categories contested were Downhill Challenge and Cross Country. The event was well participated by top riders from Sarawak, Sabah, Pahang and Selangor.

And we were lucky to meet... Sarawak's very own SUKMA (Malaysian Games) downhill gold medalist Ghazali Hakiki (in the middle in photo below).

And another home grown champion, Junaidah Juss (below) who is also a SUKMA gold medalist and will be representing Malaysia in this year's SEA Games in Laos. And obviously she won the ladies open category :)

Before the flagging off of the Men's Open Cross Country Race where 51 "ultra-fit" guys battled it out in the 18-laps race (fyi each lap around the entire Bukit Siol terrain takes about 7-9 minutes).

So before the start of the race participants were sampled with Red Bull, to enhance their physical endurance and increase their reaction speed.
